The WNBA champion Chicago Sky will be honored Tuesday with a parade through the streets of downtown, followed by a rally in the famed Millennium Park.

Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot announced the festivities Monday, one day after the Sky closed out the Phoenix Mercury to win the team's first WNBA title.

"The City of Chicago could not be prouder of our winning Chicago Sky," Lightfoot said in a statement. "We are thrilled to throw a celebration worthy of this historic moment in Chicago sports and congratulate the Sky for bringing our city its first WNBA title."

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. local time at the team's home venue, Wintrust Arena. It will head north on Michigan Ave. before heading east to the Pritzker Pavilion amphitheater in Millennium Park.

The noon CT rally is free to the public.
